James 1:2-4
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Over the years I have worried myself sick, questioned my faith, and thought how I could I have done things differently.  Many times I have asked the question. Why is this happening to me? Have you ever gone through a difficult time or experienced a tragedy? It can be difficult and discouraging to have faith when you experience bad times in your life. I have often found myself depressed and angry when things are difficult. If you are wondering why your going through a difficult time the answer can be found in verse 3. It’s “because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Every trial, every struggle is testing your faith. This is why it is so important to keep the faith and endure. Your perseverance will complete its work, making you mature and not lacking anything.

Have you ever used a Polaroid camera? When you first take a picture with a Polaroid camera you get a blank sheet of photo paper. As you wait the picture begins to develop and you can start to see the outline of the photo. After a few minuets the picture turns from being black, to blurry, to being clear and visible. Many of you are viewing your life in the blurry, fuzzy stages where things are not clear. If you will hold on and keep waiting, soon you will have a beautiful wonderful picture. Rejoice and be glad!

Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians 12:10, “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Does this sound familiar in your life? Paul went through many difficulties in his life but yet he persevered to the very end. He was able to say that “when I am weak, then I am strong.”
