6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah!” For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Hallelujah! I’ve heard this word used in a variety of ways. I’ve heard it on secular radio. I’ve heard it in church services. I have heard it uttered by random people who are overly excited, because something good has happened. Yet few understand what this word truly means. The word Hallelujah is actually a two word phrase. The first part of the word is “hallelu” which means “praise.” The second part is Jah or Yah in the Hebrew which is short for Yahweh. It is the name for Creator. Hebrews were not allowed to speak the name of God because it was to holy to write or speak. When you speak the word “Hallelujah” you are saying “Praise God!” Have you ever considered the holiness of God the Creator of the world. So holy that the Hebrews never spoke His name. So holy that he can not look upon sin. He is so holy that the only thing that could wipe that sin away was by blood. It is only by the blood of God’s precious Son Jesus, who poured out his blood to save us from our sins. It is by the blood of Jesus that our relationship with God is restored. “Hallelujah!” Our sins are forgiven! “Hallelujah!” Death has been conquered! When you are down “Hallelujah!” When you are up “Hallelujah!” “Hallelujah!” “PRAISE GOD!” Will you Hallelujah right now? “For our Lord God Almighty Reigns.”
