Get Rid of that Sin

Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

My wife and I love to watch the show “Biggest Loser.”  If you are not familiar with the show it is a group of overweight people that have to lose weight in order to stay on the show.  They go through intense workouts and extreme diets that almost makes you sick to watch.  The people on the show do in fact get sick and vomit, cry, scream and work hard to lose weight.  The results are rather remarkable at times.  Each week the individuals must do a weigh-in where we see individuals losing 10, 20 even 30 pounds of weight a week.  Some of the people on the show weigh over 500 pounds when they begin.  It really is quite remarkable to see them lose so much weight.

Can you imagine carrying around 500 pounds of weight each day?  That would be exhausting and hard work.  Many today are carrying around 500 pounds of spiritual weight.  Many are so caught up in pornography, lying, stealing, affairs, worry, gossip, that they are “entangled in sin.”  Sin is weight that can suffocate the soul.  However we are in a race and it is time to drop the weight of sin that is killing our spiritual lives.  It is hard, it makes us sick, we want to give up, but that is why it takes “perseverance” to continue the race.  Start your spiritual diet today and get rid of the sin that is weighing you down.  Remember that you are not alone in this race.  Jesus has run this race and finished it, and he wants you to “fix your eyes on Him.”  When we take our eyes of Jesus we lose sight of the finish line.  SHED THE WEIGHT OF SIN,!FOCUS INTENTLY ON JESUS! RUN, RUN, RUN AND NEVER STOP UNTIL YOU HEAR “WELL DONE YOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!”

Hi,Thank you for faithfully uapitdng and maintaining this valuable resource to help us in deepening our relationship with Jesus! I just have one quick suggestion, would it be possible divide the webpage into two columns, and then sticky the most current devotional sharing so that it appears alongside each other? Right now for me it’s not very intuitive to scroll down past several commentaries to reach the sharing but maybe it’s just me. Thanks again!martin

We are working on a update and will hopefully be able to have a more intuitive design very soon. Thank you!
