I love my wife and I tell her I love her everyday. However what would you think if I told you that I don’t ever buy my wife flowers and I never even acknowledge our anniversary? What would you think if I told you that I never spent any time with my wife? I said I loved her but does that really mean that I do if I never show it? I do love my wife very much and don’t know what I would do without her.
Do you love God? Many of us say we love God but do we really mean what we say? Jesus says, “if you love me, keep my commandments.” Love is a verb which means it is an action. To love God means we must take action and obey His commands. Do you spend time with God each day? Do you read his word each day and do what it says? If you answered no, I want to declare that you don’t love God. When you love someone you want to spend time with them, you want to romance them. True love for God is keeping His commands. The next time you profess love for God remember what it really means to love. Love is an action, so take action and keep His word. Here are a few things to know about love:
•God Is love (1 Jn 4:16)
•We love because he first loved us (1 Jn 4:19).
•Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister (1 Jn 4:20).
•Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 Jn 4:8).
•This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 Jn 4:10)
